The Surrogacy Process
The first step in the surrogacy process is a complimentary consultation. You’ll meet with our intake team who will ask you about your background, requirements and answer any questions. We want to know why you decided to choose surrogacy to build your family. For our part, we’ll help to explain how surrogacy works and guide you through the entire process.
If you choose our agency to help you with the surrogacy journey, we’ll introduce you to our staff who will be with you every step of the way. You’ll work with our team to choose the right IVF clinic and egg donor for you, should you not have one, and of course the gestational surrogate.
Matching you up with a surrogate is one of the most important first steps in the journey. We have a comprehensive screening process to find the right gestational surrogate for you. The average time it takes to match you with a donor, clinic, and surrogate is between 1 and 4 months, based on the matching requirements of our clients.
After a surrogate has been medically cleared and is ready to begin the transfer process, the clinic will perform the embryo transfer. If the surrogate becomes pregnant afterwards, then you can look forward to hearing the baby’s heartbeat from the seventh week of pregnancy. Our staff will be in touch more and more as the pregnancy develops.
Actually getting to take your baby home sounds like the end of the process, but it’s a whole new beginning for you and your team. We handle any niggling legal matters while you get to enjoy having a baby in the home.
International Parenting
There are several reasons that international parents choose the United States for their surrogacy. Not to mention 46 of 50 United States allow for commercial surrogacy. It’s important to note that children born in the United States are US Citizens. They are given US birth certificates and are entitled to a US passport for traveling, which can generally be obtained within 24-72 hours of application. You’ll be working with a surrogacy lawyer that will establish your parental rights through a Pre-Birth Order. You will be recognized as the sole legal and physical parents of the child under American law.
Establishing your parentage in the United States mean that you can travel home safely and securely. Many countries – including Spain and Germany – recognize and accept the US Declaration of Parentage.
